On Saturday, 15 December, Marina Mosolova — a 2D artist and illustrator from game developer King — will give a presentation in our studio. The topic of the presentation is "Everything an artist needs to know about mobile games".
Marina has about 10 years experience in game development — she basically lives in the industry. She has worked as an artist for companies such as Nival, Game Garden, Goodgame Studios and King.
She surely knows a lot about the opportunities that mobile gaming offers CG artists! After all, even a small game needs a concept artist, a character designer, an interface designer and a marketing art creator.
Of course, in a game's lifetime an artist gets the chance to work in each of those areas.
The presentation covers the following:
- What skills an artist needs for working in mobile games development;
- Workflow in a development team (discussion, setting tasks, task progress, team building based on foreign teams' experience);
- Graphics requirements (target audience, outlines, style, colours);
- An artist's self-development — what to do when you start to work in game development (the importance of art events, drawing from life, etc.).
Each month our guests share their invaluable experiences through presentations and masterclasses.
