New Alexander Ryzhkin lecture

On Sunday, 2 June, we welcome Alexander Ryzhkin to give a lecture titled "Expressive Limbs."

Alexander Ryzhkin is an Associate Professor of Academic Drawing at the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts (Stroganov Academy). He teaches plastic anatomy and anatomical drawing. He is a member of the board of the Moscow Union of Artists of Russia, and the chairman of the youth section of the Moscow Union of Artists of Russia.

Very often, the facial expressions of a game character are not enough to convey their emotions and thoughts. Gestures help us to do this. In the lesson, we will pay special attention to hands as powerful tools for the full disclosure of the character's emotional truth, and consider how hands' plasticity affects the perception of the character. This information will be equally useful to both 2D and 3D artists.

During the lecture we will cover the following key aspects:
- hand anatomy: bones, joints, and muscles
- movement patterns of joints
- drawing hands in perspective
- the interaction of the hands with objects
- drawing feet in perspective
